We romanticize the idea of “one in a million” and “there’s no one else like you” but it’s also easy for that to sound like “you’re so alone” in who you are. Sometimes it’s so nice to know others feel the same way as you. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Thank you all for such your sweet, positive messages after the release of the first @settermariephoto podcast with me as a guest. I’ve heard from so many of you that you relate to me in both my joy and my struggles. It’s messy, not always pretty but it’s real. ⁣ ⁣ Photo by @thehumblelion_
“Didn't have a dime but I always had a vision, Always had high, high hopes”⁣ ⁣ We hit 10,000 followers on Instagram! Guys, I can’t thank you enough for sticking with us. We have made some of the best friends through this community. 10K has always been the goal for me and I can’t believe it happened. You all are truly the best followers. ⁣ ⁣ Last night we were fortunate enough to podcast with @settermariephoto on her new podcast Pet Hooman Tales. I talk about a lot of things including these balloons and the struggle of getting them for this picture. If you listen, then look at this photo, you’ll have a question for me after! And I’ll tell you how it all came to fruition.
Avoiding Monday like ...
Job Interview: Where do you see yourself in five years? Me: Stay at home dog mom.
It’s been a minute since the sun graced us with her presence, and man, did we miss her ☀️ We took advantage of it and hope everyone is having a great weekend! #saturdaysareforthedogs
I’ve been so jealous of all your amazing dog advent calendars! So yesterday I made it my mission to join the cool kids and get one before December got away from me.⁣ ⁣ It seems the stores to go to are @petsmart and @traderjoes, but no stock at my Petsmart and we are still aspiring for a Trader Joe’s. So good ol’ @target came through for me!⁣ ⁣ I’ve filled it with a small, local brand of dog cookies Bear Bones and put two in each every day for the dogs! If you want to go this route, think of it as an investment to use year after year and a way to spoil two doggos at once. We’re officially in the Christmas spirit!
People often ask: so what’s this #settersinbathrooms thing? ⁣ ⁣ The answer is two-fold. I believe my dogs can sense my anxiety and it’s at its highest here in this bathroom. It’s when I’m getting ready to leave the house to start the day. And every time, they are right there with me. And they bring a peace to this space. This morning there were two setters, a pop pop, and me all tangled up together laughing. ⁣ ⁣ And secondly because the moment when I realized we were going to adopt Ivy was in this room. I realized she and Winston did everything together - including hanging with me in the bathroom every time. She became his missing piece. Mine too. ⁣ ⁣ All this to say when I received this mug from @mugginco my heart may have exploded. If you want to order one too, their website is super easy to select the color of the mug and just type in the text box: #settersinbathrooms design. Thank you so much @mugginco for this sweet gift!
Last night we were standing at the door to leave to present to a Girl Scout troop and pop pop says, “It’s crazy with your anxiety the way it is that we’re about to go do this still.” ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I can have the most crippling social and logistical anxiety that’ll leave me on the bathroom floor some days. But the last couple weeks I’ve done things I never thought I’d do like taken Ivy to this dog race alone for the @hshcky humane society, talked to you in front of the camera, and were the pet badge for the Girl Scouts. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When I coach myself that my anxiety is a selfish piece of me - it wants me to itself at home closed off - I can push myself to say: well I have to do this for all the dogs, for these young kids in our community, for my following so we can make a difference together. My life raft out of anxiety will always be charity and I have to remember that. Whatever your life raft is, lean into it. ⁣ ⁣ Photo by @windswept87
